How is Wellesley Celebrating Veterans' Day?

Wellesley will observe Veterans’ Day Monday, Nov. 11 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. with an assembly in the Great Hall at Wellesley Town Hall.


The ceremony will include:


  • Welcome – Veterans' Services Officer

  • Posting of POW / MIA Memorial Flag – Veterans’ Council Honor Guard

  • Tolling of Memorial Bell in remembrance of Great War Armistice

  • Invocation – Veterans’ Council Chaplain

  • Salute to the flag and Pledge of Allegiance – W.V.C. Sergeant at Arms

  • Reading of “In Flanders Fields”

  • Reading of “Who is a Veteran?”

  • Guest speaker: Laurence D. Fitzmaurice

  • Recognition of Wellesley citizens who died in the Great War – Veterans' Officer

  • Salute to the Dead – Veterans’ Council rifleman retiring of POW / MIA Memorial Flag – Veterans’ Council Honor Guard

  • Benediction – Veterans’ Council Chaplain

  • Conclusion of program

  • Recognition of participants and guests

  • Recognition of United States Marine Corps birthday on Nov. 10
