ReplyWe need a pool ! Morses pond is great for splashing and socializing but a pool would provide a place for children (and adults) to learn to swim, a place for Wellesley High's swim team to train and host meets , and a place for everyone to exercise in water.

On the article What Would You Do About the Remaining Lunch Debt?

ReplyYes they should try and recoup the debt , There are still 28 students still in the system, their parents should be paying that debt down. If this was in a school system with a large number of students on a free lunch program I can see how it would be difficult to collect , but this is Wellesley and the good citizens of Wellesley have paid enough taxes for the school projects and we should not be expected to take this loss. Saying 24,000 is a small loss makes me very angry., don't be so free with our money. That money could be put to good use in any number of ways .

On the article Where Do Drivers Speed Most in Wellesley?
karen

ReplyI agree with Weston @ Elmwood. The other end of Weston has been give numerous traffic "calming solutions" , to suddenly end them only encourages drivers to speed up. like they do before reaching Weston @ Linden. After all the blinking lights, crosswalks , flashing speed indicators and slow down lights , people are ready to make up for lost time and the blinking lights only give them license to speed up more so no one can cut in front of them at Linden. Weston Road needs help all the way from the Weston Town line to its end @ Washington Street.

On the article What is the Most Dangerous Intersection in Wellesley?

ReplyI agree with Washington Street and Weston, Why there aren't any left turn arrows for drivers turning onto Washington in both directions is a mystery to me. The way the roads intersect makes it impossible for drivers going in either direction to pull forward to wait to turn without blocking drivers staying on Weston to pass through the intersection. Weston and Linden is another nightmare in Peak traffic will it ever be a "normal" lighted intersection, The blinking yellow does nothing to slow traffic on Weston, it seems to make them go faster.Turning left onto Weston at peak times is difficult at best and entirely dependent on the good grace of drivers on Weston Road.

On the article Sen. Cindy Creem Supports State Bottled Water Ban

ReplyI think it's a great idea, but I doubt it will go far. People have become too accustomed to single use items, including trash cans. The state needs to step up and require towns, malls and sports venues to have recycling cans along side trash bins. If you make it easy to recycle most people will . Adding water bottles to the bottle bill would be a good start.

ReplyAs it becomes more competitive more risks are taken. I know from experience that most trainers and jockeys have nothing but the well being of the horses they train and ride at heart. But it is a business and profits need to be made. I'm sure there are those who will put profits first.

I think it serves as both a memorial and a reminder for drivers to pay more attention to the road. It should have been able to stay at least a week. I would like an update on charges for the driver. Why won't police release his name or the name of the company he worked for? I'm also wondering if Is this why Wellesley PD had the bridge on Weston Road blocked off on Monday? I tried to turn right from Washington only to find an officer stopping traffic.
