ReplyAnother charitable event for Wellesley: just learned about "Giving Thanks & Giving Back" this Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. At Potpourri Designs, 8 Church Street. Wine tastings, entertaining demonstrations. A percentage of the evening's proceeds to benefit the Wellesley Food Pantry. You should GO!

ReplyAfter attending "Back to School Night" at Wellesley High, I have to nominate Mr Syd Malaxos who teaches 10th gr. Chemistry.
Impressive! Our students are lucky to have him this year. -

ReplyLoved watching today's festivities from in front of the Hills branch public library and later in front of the P.O. at the Cliff Rd. intersection with the marathon route. Great, supportive crowd and the sunshine was a bonus!

ReplyI see the same thing at the high school, where some kids are sang that they are "swamped" as the current term wraps up on Friday. School sports, outside school activities, music and the arts, PLUS homework? The needle on the "sleep meter" is moving in the wrong direction!

I do not agree that more classroom instruction ought to replace the half days. What about every day life instruction? We monitor so much that children do. Having a half day one a month has far more benefits than disadvantages for middle and high school students.
