Driver Arrested After Suspected to Be Racing on Rte. 9

A Dorchester man was arrested on warrant-related motor vehicle violation charges last week after police were led to a scene of suspected drag racing on Route 9 near Wellesley Fire Headquarters. Yihui Huang, 21, of 15 Harbor Point Blvd., Apt. 601, Dorchester was additionally charged with failing to drive in the right lane and failing to wear a seatbelt Oct. 28 after police located the vehicles suspected of racing and queried Huang’s license plate, according to Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary.

Police ID, Arrest Man Who Stole Co-Worker's Credit Card and Used it at Wellesley ATM

A Haverhill man was arrested last week after police learned that he stole a co-worker’s credit card, completed a cash advance transaction at a nearby ATM and returned the credit card. Jesus Angel Otero, 20, of 37 Nichols St., Haverhill was arrested Oct. 17 and charged with credit card fraud of over $250 and larceny over $250, according to Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary. Police learned Oct. 13 that the victim, a Wellesley College student, had noticed a been a charge by way of cash advance on her credit card made Oct. 12, according to Cleary. The victim was at work at the time of the incident and was in possession of the card when she noticed the transaction. Police identified Otero making the transaction on bank surveillance video, …

Police Arrest Paving Solicitor Who Had No Permit

Police arrested a Middleborough man on Hardy Road after he admitted to paving driveways in Wellesley without a town permit last week. William Peck Stanley, 20, of 248 Everett St., Middleborough was charged with soliciting without a town permit Oct. 9 after police learned Stanley had solicited to pave two residents’ driveways without contacting the town of Wellesley or Dig Safe, according to Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary. Stanley, when asked by police, said he obtained on job earlier in the day on Weston Road by ringing a home’s doorbell and asking the residents if they would like their driveway paved, according to Cleary. Police were led to Stanley because his tri-axle dump truck and trailer were parked in a designated no parking area.

Framingham Man Arrested After Discussing Terms of Restraining Order with Police

Wellesley Police arrested a Framingham man last week after they found him to be in violation of a local restraining order. Thomas William Murphy, 51, of 60 Higgins Road, Framingham was arrested and charged Oct. 5 after he went to the police station to discuss the terms of the order last week, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Wicklund. [Update: Court documents recently obtained indicate that the charges in this case have since been dropped by a local judge. This article has been updated accordingly. May 16, 2013]

Woman Attacks Man with Keys, Charged with Assault With Dangerous Weapon

The following information was supplied by the Wellesley Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Christine Fahey, 41, of 141 Langdon St., Newton was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon last week in Wellesley when she used her keys to attack a person on Washington St. Fahey had a verbal altercation with a man on Washington Street Sept. 17, according to Lt. Marie Cleary of the Wellesley Police Department. The man tried to walk away, but Fahey struck him in the back three times with her fist and car keys, Cleary said. Police contacted Fahey who agreed to come to the police station where she was booked.

Police Log: Man Arrested, Charged with DUI After Driving on Three Tires

  Vehicle Pulled Over After Driving on Three Tires, Charged with Drunken Driving Brian Price, 48, of 14 Redman Drive, Natick was arrested last week after an officer observed him driving on Washington Street on three tires. Wellesley Police Officer Nate Derby heard a vehicle approaching on Washington Street Sept. 15. As the vehicle passed, Derby noticed the car’s front right tire was gone and the rim was in contact with the road and the car could not keep a straight line, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Wicklund. Derby pulled the vehicle over, being driven by Price, and noticed a strong odor of alcohol. Price admitted to drinking a couple beers, Wicklund said. Price was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, …

Canton Woman Charged with Assaulting CVS Employee, Shoplifting

A Canton woman was charged with simple assault and battery and shoplifting last week after she pushed a CVS employee while trying to exit the store with a bag full of stolen merchandise. Wendy Sterling, 42, of 1 Sassamon St., Canton was arrested Sept. 12 at the CVS in Wellesley Square after officers found her to be in possession of “a multitude of items,” according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Wicklund. Police arrived to find Sterling arguing with the store’s manager. Sterling, at one point, dumped the stolen merchandise onto the floor and pushed the store manager as she tried to exit, according to Wicklund. The stolen merchandise totaled $119. Sterling was then arrested, and an inventory of her vehicle, parked near the store, …

N.J. Man Arrested After Allegedly Sleeping in Vehicle, Charged with 3rd OUI

A man trying to catch some shut-eye in his car on Washington Street wound up in cuffs after he allegedly attempted to drive drunkenly from police at the scene. Joseph Lando, 42, of 22 Branch Ave., Oceanport, N.J., was arrested Aug. 17 and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol – third offense after police received a phone call reporting a man sleeping in his vehicle near Blue Ginger restaurant. When police arrived, Lando’s vehicle was parked and running with the driver’s side door open. Wellesley Police officer Jenny Rowe saw Lando, who had been hanging out of the vehicle, close the door and put the car in reverse, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Wickland. Rowe told Lando to put the vehicle in park…

Police Make 6 Arrests in June

The Wellesley Police Department released its monthly call statistics at the end of July.

Wellesley Police Department personnel arrested six in June, according to call stats recently released by the department. This compares with 11 arrests made in May. The department received 1,932 calls for service in June compared with 2,069 in May. There were two residential break-ins in June and none in May.

Protecting His Stolen Property From Being Stolen On July 30, just after 5 p.m., a young man strode into the Wheelworks store on Trapelo Road in Belmont and took a black-and-red Specialized "Hard Rock" mountain bike worth $639 and ... voom! Like a rat out of an aqueduct, he was gone with the bike. Apparently the successful thief realized he needed to protect his ill-gotten gain. So 40 minutes after taking the cycle, he allegedly went back to the bike store. The supposed thief – wearing the exact same outfit – said he was looking for a good bicycle lock. But by then, he may have realized that returning to the scene of the crime was not the brightest of moves and proceeded to head for the door. But now employees were on his tail and police …
