The rain will stick around for the rest of Friday.
Rain rolled into Wellesley shortly before noon today and will likely stick around until after midnight tonight. With the chilly temperatures, the National Weather Service forecast calls for possible sleet between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The rain is supposed to end by 1 a.m. Saturday. Up to 8 inches is forecasted for Monday night and Tuesday.
Spring officially begins Wednesday, but Old Man Winter seems to have planned at least one more whack before letting warmer weather in. Forecasters predict as much as 8 inches of snow could fall on Wellesley, starting tonight into Tuesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning beginning at 9 p.m. Monday and lasting through 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Look out for heavy snow and ice, and between 4 and 8 inches of snow, according the NWS warning. Snow will likely make Tuesday morning's commute a difficult one, the NWS warns. Weather forecasters are predicting at least six inches of snow with a foot of snow possible.
Will Wellesley get pummeled this weekend with more than a foot of snow or will it be a half-foot with rain mixed in? The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. The NWS said 6 inches of snow or more is possible and warned of heavy wet snow that may fall at 1 to 2 inches per hour. Snow may mix with rain in the Wellesley area. The NWS warned that the heavy wet snow could bring down tree limbs and result in scattered power outages. Forecasters say we could get 8-12 inches of snow.
Once again, the snow is melting. But once again, don't put the shovels away: the weekend could bring more snow. A new snowstorm is headed our way for Saturday and Sunday, forecasters say, and Wellesley could see up to 12 inches of new snow before it's done. On his blog, WHDH meteorologist Pete Bouchard is calling for light rain along the coast Saturday with snow inland and snow across the region by Sunday morning. "Heavy snow through early morning Sunday. Roads will be tough to travel, and yes, your flight will most likely be delayed or cancelled. (Although I don't run an airline, so I'll let them have the final word.)," Bouchard writes. As of now, forecasts call for 8 to 12 inches of new snow in the towns west of Rte. 128.

As Winter Storm Nemo hits, a frosty Five Things you Need to Know.

Here's the latest on how you need to prepare for Winter Storm Nemo in Wellesley.
Looks like Nemo is going to find us ... (Come on, you knew we couldn't get through this storm without at least a few Pixar references). As the day of Winter Storm Nemo's arrival draws closer, the forecasts aren't getting any less hairy. Looking at a couple of accumulation maps reveals that 16 inches for the Wellesley area appears to be the bare minimum. Eighteen inches minimum actually shows up on more maps, and the maximum numbers are at two feet or more. Fox 25 meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz told Patch via a tweet that he'd recommend people head home by 3 p.m. Friday ("to be safe"), especially if they plan to use the T. CDC offers tips on keeping extreme cold at bay.
The National Weather Service predicts Wellesley will feel some of the coldest temperatures of the season during the next 72 hours. An arctic blast of frigid air will cause evening temperatures to drop into the single digits and daytime highs will struggle to get out of the teens. "This will definitely be the coldest weather so far this season, and perhaps even colder than anything observed last winter," according to the NWS. The U.S. Center’s for Disease Control & Prevention’s brochure, entitled “EXTREME COLD: A Prevention Guide to Promote Your Personal Health & Safety,” provides a number of tips people can use to help combat the cold and its effects on homes, cars and people this week.

Many commuters discovered, as they set off to work this morning, that a blanket of snow had appeared overnight. The National Weather Service predicts about three to five inches total as snow and sleet showers continue to fall until about 4 p.m., with a 90 percent chance of precipitation. At this time, there are no school cancelations reported by WCVB or by WHDH either. They also predict decreasing clouds in the evening, clearing up for a partly sunny day tomorrow, with highs of around 40ºF. There is cause for caution on the road as well.
