Police say there will be "extensive delays" on Weston Road because of a gas leak which developed yesterday.
The Police say you can expect "extensive" delays on Weston Road today, near the Fells block, due to a natural gas leak. National Grid crews will be on scene to repair the leak, and according to the announcement sent out by the Police this morning, you may be able to smell natural gas in the area until the leak is fixed. Crews have been working overnight, and will continue to work in the area throughout the day. Wellesley Police expect to see a lot of shopping on Linden Street today, leading to a lot of delays.
If you're looking to get some last-minute Thanksgiving preparations, or some early Christmas shopping done in the Linden Street area, you may end up stuck in traffic this afternoon. According to a traffic alert sent by the Wellesley Police Department, the Kingsbury Street to Crest Street stretch of Linden Street is expected to see heavy traffic between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Most of the traffic, the alert says, is from shoppers. Wellesley Police also updated their site with road closure information about the Turkey5 races tomorrow, saying that Linden Street will be closed for about 15 minutes while runners get ready to leave and pass through the Wellesley Square and Wellesley College areas. Newton-Wellesley hospital doctor arrested and charged with operating under the influence.
Updated 6:41 p.m. with a statement from Newton-Wellesley Hospital. An ER doctor from Newton-Wellesley Hospital has been arrested and charged following a crash on Friday morning. Kristin Howard, 56, the driver, was arrested and charged with operating to endanger, operating under the influence of liquor and drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of class B and D drugs, according to police. The Wellesley Police Department have released crash footage from the intersection, and the crash itself occurs at the 1:05 mark on the video embedded to the right.
