Here are the results of yesterday's 2013 Town Election for Wellesley.
The votes are in, and preliminary results were sent out by the Town Clerk last night. So, the question is, how did Wellesley vote? Bear in mind that there are still some ballots to be hand-counted, but Clerk Kathleen Nagle does not believe the outcomes will change. The only contested races were for Town Meeting Members, and in three Precincts, there was the opportunity to write-in TMM candidates. In Precinct A, Richard Hartley was written in 23 times, securing him the two-year seat. Precinct E, 70 votes placed Wendy Engels in a three-year term, and in Precinct F, 6 votes for Michelle Livingston secured her seat. Wellesley's Town Elections are slated for March 5, 2013. Which your calendar will tell you is today. None of the elected officials' seats are contested, but some Town Meeting Members races in a few precincts are running opposed. In precincts A, E and F, however, there are open spaces on the ballot, so these precincts can write-in names of candidates. Tomorrow, Wellesley will go to the polls to elect a new group of Town Meeting Members. None of the elected officials' seats are contested, but some Town Meeting Members races in a few precincts are running opposed. No contested races for elected officials, but room for write-in campaigns for Town Meeting Membership in some precincts.
Town-wide elections start up in a week's time, and there are a few seats still to be claimed. There are a number of boards coming up for elections. Town Clerk Kathy Nagle reports that there are no contested races for elected town offices this year. The race for Town Meeting Members is a little more interesting, however. There are contested races for Town Meeting Members in Precincts B, D G and H. However, in Precincts A, E and F, there are too few people running--meaning interested residents can start a write-in campaign--after they Clerk Nagle at 781-431-1019 ext 2250. Nomination papers for the 2013 elections are now available from Town Hall. Town elections are March 5, 2013.
If you have wondered how to run for office in Wellesley may already know the first step is getting nominated--the time for that is nigh. In order to be on the ballot, you must first get nomination papers, which are now available at the Town Clerk's office. Incumbent Town Meeting Member need to notify Town Clerk's office in writing that they intend to seek re-election. The town will vote on the ballot on March 5, 2013.
