The number of home sales from February of last year dropped fairly significantly.
Home sales in the Commonwealth are down a little from this time last year, according to new data from the Warren Group. Sales are down five percent from February of last year and February of this year, according to statistics gathered by the Warren Group, the Boston-based real estate and banking information publishers for New England. At the end of February, Wellesley had a total of 4 home sales, a 73.33 percent drop from the 16 completed in 2012. Although the number of completed foreclosures dropped, Wellesley saw more people start the foreclosure process in 2012 compared to 2011.
Along with an 24 percent increase in home sales in 2012, the total number of completed foreclosures in Wellesley saw a decrease compared to last year, according to statistics gathered by the Warren Group, the Boston-based real estate and banking information publishers for New England. At the end of 2012, Wellesley had a total of 5 foreclosure deeds, a 16 percent drop from the 6 completed in 2011. Foreclosure deeds represent a completed foreclosure, according to the Warren Group press release. Wellesley saw a bigger drop in foreclosure auctions in 2012, dropping 40 percent from 20 total auctions in 2011 to 12 auctions in 2012. At the end of 2012, figures show that single-family home sales have increased in Wellesley by 24 percent over the same 12 month period in 2011, according to statistics gathered by the Warren Group, the Boston-based real estate and banking information publishers for New England. By the end of December, 31 single-family homes were sold in Wellesley, 6 more than those sold by the end of December 2011. According to the press release, overall Massachusetts home sales rose 18 percent in December. The total number of homes sold statewide were 46,887, an increase from 39,594 home sales in 2011.
