He performed a random query of the vehicle and learned that the vehicle owner's license had been revoked. After pulling the driver over, he requested the license and registration. The driver handed over his registration and a passport. The driver, identified as Martinelli DeSousa, 29, of Everett was arrested and charged with driving after a license revocation. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.  Licensed to Stop While on patrol at about 3:30 a.m. on May 7, police noticed a vehicle which reportedly failed to stop at the Wellesley Avenue intersection with Brookside Road. Officer Dennehy pulled the driver over and requested the license and registration. The driver gave him a foreign license. A query determined that the driver's right to drive in Mass. had been revoked. This information was listed under a number assigned on a previous instance where the driver had been pulled over. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.  Parking and Not Riding Just after 8 p.m. on May 5, Officer Cunningham was patrolling a commercial parking lot on Linden Street. He haw a vehicle parked with two men inside, and queried the vehicle. The query determined that there was an outstanding warrant in the name of the registered owner.  After confirming that the driver was the registered owner, police arrested and charged Michael Reddish of Natick, 21, on the outstanding default warrant out of Framingham District Court. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.  Warrant Served Officer Derby received word that a warrant was outstanding for Hyde Park man, Raphael Figuero, 21, and that he may be at the Whole Foods location on Washington Street on April 29, before 7 p.m. When police arrived and confirmed that he was present, he was arrested and charged on the outstanding probation warrant. Wellesley Police Among National Top Tweeters

According to a recent IACP list, the Wellesley Police Department is one of the top-followed twitter accounts nationally.

  There are about 3,800 fans of the Wellesley Police Department on Twitter, which makes them one of the most popular in the country. For a department of its size, the Wellesley Police Department has the third highest Twitter following, according to a recent list from the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Center for Social Media.  The list breaks police department accounts nationwide into a number of categories. With just under 3,800 followers (at the time of writing), for a department of 26 to 49 sworn officers, Wellesley follows top-ranked Bridgwater, Mass. Wellesley Police Dressing Town Boston Strong

The Wellesley Police Department announced they will sell specially-designed Boston Strong t-shirts to benefit The One Fund.

  Wellesley Police Department have walked, run, and responded to the Boston Marathon--and are now selling for it. Wellesley Police are now selling special Boston Strong t-shirts from the station. According to an announcement on the Wellesley Police website, these shirts are selling fast.  Each one is $20, and the proceeds from the shirt will go to The One Fund Boston, a charity dedicated to the victims of the marathon bombing.  The shirts were designed by the department, and are available from size small to size 3XL. The front of the shirt has the department patch on the upper left, and a large panel on the back with the line Boston Strong, and the names of the victims of the attack: Martin Richard, Krystle Campbell, Lingzi Lu, and MIT …

Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.  Suspended Query April 20, Officer Lindelof patrolled the area of Church and Abbott Streets, a bit before 6 p.m. After querying a passing Nissan sedan, he learned the vehicle had a suspended registration. The car pulled over at a Rice Street, and the officer requested the driver's license and registration. The driver, identified as Bryan Barillas of East Boston, age 20, said he did not have a valid Mass. license. A query determined that his license had been suspended. Near the 650 block of Worcester Street, he located a Jeep which was stopped on the curb. As he came up, he noticed one person inside who appeared to be asleep at the wheel, and that the right front wheel seemed to have been burst from hitting the curb.  The officer then tapped on the window, and the driver began to stir and woke up. Her eyes appeared bloodshot, and when she spoke, her words were slurred and difficult to understand, and the smell of alcohol hung on her breath. She told the officer that she …

Wellesley Police Ran, Responded to Marathon Bombing

Three members of the Department ran in the marathon this year.

  The Boston Marathon route in Wellesley was re-opening to road traffic at about 2:30 p.m., and the bombing in Boston was about 20 minutes later.  A new Wellesley Police news update provides a behind-the-scenes look at Marathon preparation, and shares some of the WPD response to the bombing in Copley Square.  The day began normally, with a joint briefing between Wellesley officers and the Army National Guard. The video reports that the race itself was more or less incident free as it passed through Wellesley--home of the Scream Tunnel.
