Inspect and Check About 8 p.m. on May 29, Officer Derby saw a Dodge Sedan traveling in the left lane of Route 9 west, even though the right was available. He queried the registration and learned that the vehicle had failed an inspection. So, he pulled the vehicle over at the Route 9 intersection with Western Road. When asked for his license and registration, the driver indicated that he did not have a license. A query confirmed that he had a suspended license. At the intersection of Central Street and Weston Road, at about 5:30 p.m., Officer Cunningham reports seeing a vehicle with a cracked windshield, and the front license plate on the dashboard, not on the vehicle. Both are in violation of Mass. motor vehicle laws, so he pulled the vehicle over. When speaking with the driver, he noticed that the passenger, later identified as Paris Wilson of Dorchester, age 42, was not wearing a seatbelt. Wonder how Wellesley's finest spent 2013 thus far? Wonder no more! The Wellesley Police Department release monthly statistics about many of their activities, including break-ins, arrests and traffic stops. Since January 2013, the Department has arrested 57 people, and responded to 269 vehicle crashes, for example. Last year's stats, compared to the previous four years' worth of calls and arrests showed a decrease in criminal complaints over the last five years. At this point in the year, it is impossible to say how close to average the rest of 2013 will be. Loud Rider Officer Derby, at about 8:15 p.m. on May 15, reported seeing a Honda Hatchback on Walnut Street, which appeared significantly lowered and had a loud muffler. These are both violations of road codes. He pulled the vehicle over, and approached the vehicle. He asked the driver for his license, which he said he did not have. A check determined he did not have a license to drive. License Check While performing traffic enforcement at the Oakland Street intersection with Washington Street, Officer Derby saw a passing gray Nissan before 6:30 a.m. on May 15.
