The local track teams competed at the Bay State Conference championships, and the boys' lacrosse and girls' tennis squads stayed perfect.

Wellesley (10-7, 7-5 BSC) didn’t play again this week because of rain and remains in second place in the Herget Division. Softball: Wellesley lost an entire week of play to rain, leaving the team to sit on its four-game losing streak. The Raiders (3-12, 2-9 BSC) will play an unusual Sunday game tomorrow morning at 11 a.m., when they host Walpole. Boys’ lacrosse: The Raiders continue to crush all comers, picking up two decisive victories this week. Wellesley (15-0, 10-0 BSC) overwhelmed Braintree, 13-2, on Tuesday and topped Newton North, 10-6, on…

The local nine can redeem an April 27 loss and narrow the gap between themselves and the Rebels when they visit Walpole on Monday at 4 p.m. Softball: Wellesley opened the week with an 11-1 thumping of Brookline, a victory which, coupled with last Friday’s win over Natick, represented the team’s first back-to-back W’s of the season. Wellesley Sports Roundup April 16-22

Five local teams remain unbeaten after the school vacation week.

Baseball: The Wellesley hardballers took a vacation week trip outside the Bay State Conference, beating Medfield, 8-5, on Tuesday and falling to state No. 1 Catholic Memorial, 11-4, on Thursday. “It’s a chance to see what it’s like to play one of those top two, top five teams in the state,” head coach Rob Kane said of the Raiders’ meeting with the Knights. “CM’s probably the top one or two teams in the state. To get them to come play on our field, and a chance to see what it’s like against Division 1 pitching. … We’re trying to get the guys prepared to play the Bay State, and playing teams like CM … gives us an opportunity to see what’s out there.” The Raiders (5-2, 2-0 BSC) remained atop the conference standings, despite the loss. …

Three local athletes compete at track and field meet.

Raiders' McPhee Claims Runner-Up Spot in All-State Pole Vault

Wellesley Girls Finish 17th Overall; Boys Tie for 56th

WESTFIELD — No one vaulted higher, but one girl vaulted first, and Wellesley's Hanna McPhee settled for the runner-up spot in the girls' pole vault Saturday at the MIAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Westfield State College. McPhee, a senior, and Newton North's Steph Brown both cleared 11 feet, but Brown earned the victory because her success came on her first attempt at the height. Fellow Raider Karla Ganley finished seventh in the event, with a vault of 10 feet, making Wellesley the only school to place two girls among the top eight, point-getting spots. The versatile Ganley also posted the fifth-fastest heat time in the 100-meter hurdles, 15.39, then ran even faster in the final to hold that No. 5 spot, crossing the line in 15…
