The Mass. Pike and I-495 may see plowable snow on Monday.
This much seems certain: we will see snow next week. But how much and how often is still the big question. According to WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner, the weather pattern for the area will start to become active not just for next week, but for possibly the next three weeks. "The pattern becomes active and a number of storms will take a swipe at us for the next 2-3 weeks," according to his blog on WHDH. "They won't all be snow or rain, likely a mix of both and the first one on the docket looks to be just that." In regards to next week, Reiner says light snow is expected Sunday and may change over to sprinkles Sunday night. Monday will see the light mix of precipitation become steadier & heavier by afternoon & evening. The coast can …

Snow will fall during most of Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Wellesley may see 2 to 4 inches of snow over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area with snow showers expected Friday night and steady snow on Saturday. The steady snow should taper off by 5 p.m. Saturday and then snow showers are expected Saturday night. The snowy conditions will be joined by fog and winds that may exceed 20 mph. NWS said there is a “moderate to high probability that winter weather advisorires will be needed for a portion of southern New England.” The heaviest snowfall should hit southeastern Massachusetts, but NWS warned that a shift in the storm track could result in changes in the type of precipitation and amount.

This has been one of the driest winters in the area, according to a DPW official.
For the Department of Public Works, winter means plowing. But Frank Miller, superintendent of the Parks and Highway Division for the Wellesley DPW, said the town's plows have remained parked this winter. Miller said his crews have only plowed once this winter – during the Jan. 21 snowstorm that dumped about 3 ½ inches. They’ve been out to sand and salt roadways only four times. “Actually it’s been a positive,” he said in a phone interview Thursday. His workers have been busy, he said, just not with snow control. DPW crews have been patching up potholes, pruning public shrubbery and keeping storm drains clear. The DPW is typically authorized around $340,000 annually for snow and ice removal. Last year, the DPW was given an additional $300,…

Expect 3 to 6 inches of snowfall this weekend.
Following a small accumulation of snow overnight Thursday into Friday, the National Weather Service is expecting a more significant storm to make its way to New England during the day Saturday. Anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow could fall across much of the state and region, including Wellesley, according to a Winter Weather Advisory, which is upgraded from this morning's Winter Weather Outlook, from the NWS. The snow is expected to fall between Saturday morning and Saturday evening. "Snow will overspread southern New England after midnight from west to east," the advisory says. "The majority of the snow is expected to fall from mid-morning into the early afternoon. Snow is expected to diminish in the late afternoon into the evening." …
