Police ID Shoplifter on West Side Mart Surveillance Video

A Salem man was arrested last week when police identified him shoplifting items from West Side Mart on Route 9. Kenneth James Austin, 25, of 57 Loring St. Apt. #2, Salem was charged with two counts of shoplifting by stealing merchandise, third offense, malicious or wanton damager or defacement of property related to an outstanding warrant after police identified him committing a crime on West Side Mart surveillance footage Sept. 15. Wellesley Police spokeswoman Lt. Marie Cleary said Austin was being detained at the West Side Mart Sept. 17, but had fled the area as cops were en route. On Sept. 19, police found Austin working at a nearby construction site. Police determined Austin stole an item from the gas station’s convenience store on …

Canton Woman Charged with Assaulting CVS Employee, Shoplifting

A Canton woman was charged with simple assault and battery and shoplifting last week after she pushed a CVS employee while trying to exit the store with a bag full of stolen merchandise. Wendy Sterling, 42, of 1 Sassamon St., Canton was arrested Sept. 12 at the CVS in Wellesley Square after officers found her to be in possession of “a multitude of items,” according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Wicklund. Police arrived to find Sterling arguing with the store’s manager. Sterling, at one point, dumped the stolen merchandise onto the floor and pushed the store manager as she tried to exit, according to Wicklund. The stolen merchandise totaled $119. Five Charged with Shoplifting Nearly $2K Worth of Merchandise from Downtown Shops

Wellesley Police arrested five individuals last week after officers found nearly $2,000 worth of stolen merchandise from area stores. Kayla A. Harris, 18, of 1317 Blue Hill Ave. Apt. #3, Mattapan; Javann J. Hall, 26, of 8 Ware St., Dorchester; Carla Carrasquillo, 18, of 5 Shabazz Way, Roxbury; Shaevonte Campbell, 19, of 28 Shafter St., Boston and Tanasia M. Freeman, 21, of 16 Stellman Road, Roslindale were arrested July 3 after officers found them in possession of 20 items from LF Stores and Second Time Around totaling $1,978, according to Lt. Marie Cleary of the Wellesley Police Department. A caller reported merchandise had been stolen from the stores. Cops: Man Steals Aloe Socks

Wellesley Police arrested Mark D. Fisher, 37, of 1307 Commonwealth Ave. Apt. 14, Allston last week after he allegedly pocketed water filters, aloe-infused socks and other items at Whole Foods. Police received a call from Whole Foods’ loss prevention department May 31 reporting that officials had seen Fisher walking around the store putting items into his pockets and a bag, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. Fisher had $210.52 worth of merchandise on him when stopped, Morse said, including the aforementioned items a water-filtration system, a 16-ounce wide canteen, cream cheese and other miscellany. Fisher was charged with shoplifting of $100 or more by concealing items. He was served with a “no trespass” notice by Whole…

Driver Pulled Over for Failing to Travel in Right Lane, Arrested for Lack of License, Warrant A driver was pulled over last week for failing to travel in the right lane despite opportunities to do so. Wellesley Police Officer Nate Derby was on patrol on Route 9 Jan. 12 when he observed a vehicle which “remained in left lane even though right lane was available,” according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. “It was not overtaking other vehicles traveling in the left lane ahead of him,” she said reading from the original report. Derby pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver, Jewil E. Guerrero, 22 from Jamaica Plain, for his license and registration. Gurrero told Derby his driver’s license had been suspended. Hardy, 31, of Boston at her apartment Oct. 21 on a warrant-related charge of improper credit card use. Wellesley officers on the Fugitive Apprehension Team placed Hardy under arrest. The warrant was out of Dedham District Court. Roxbury Man Arrested on Warrant-Related Charges Wellesley Police arrested Ruthaw Strickland, 41, of Roxbury Oct. 21 for a warrant-related charge of larceny. Woman Arrested for Shoplifting at Whole Foods

A Newton woman was arrested for stealing $108 worth of items from Whole Foods last week. Whole Foods loss prevention officers witnessed Jennifer Dunlea, 45, taking items off shelves Oct. 12, placing them in her basket, taking them from the basket and putting them into her pocket, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. The officers also saw Dunlea remove a price tag from a pair of reading glasses, which she put into her pocket, Morse said. Wellesley Police officers, called to the store, placed Dunlea under arrest. She was charged with shoplifting of over $100 worth of goods by concealing and by tampering with a price tag.

Police Arrests Dec. 27-Jan. 2

A Waltham woman allegedly used a baby stroller to conceal clothes during an attempted shoplifting, and a local teen is charged with transporting beer on New Year's Eve.

Local teen charged with transporting alcohol on New Year's Eve On Dec. 31, at 11 p.m., Cameron J. Meekins, 17, of Wellesley was arrested and charged with transporting an alcoholic beverage under the age of 21. An officer on patrol in the area of Elm Street around 10:30 p.m. observed a car traveling very slowly with its passenger door open. The officer saw four young males exit the vehicle as it was moving and also saw a beer can fall to the ground as they did so, according to a police report. The officer stopped the car and questioned the driver, Meekins, about the beer can. Neither he nor any passenger claimed possession, according to the report.
