Massachusetts State Police have identified the victim in an early morning rollover on Rte. 128 as a 47-year-old Manchester, New Hampshire man. The name of the victim, who died as a result of the accident, is being withheld pending notification of his family, police said in a statement Sunday. The rollover occurred around 7:18 a.m. on Sunday, when the New Hampshire man lost control of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck he was driving. The truck reportedly drifted to the left and off of the highway near Exit 21 on Rte. 128 in Newton, before crossing all travel lanes and finally leaving the road on the right-hand side, rolling over and coming to rest in the travel and breakdown lanes. One person was taken into custody Tuesday after Wellesley Police assisted in an arrest on the highway.
A suspect was placed into custody after a short pursuit along Rte. 128 Tuesday morning, Wellesley Police said. The incident took place Tuesday morning, when a Norwood Police detective, driving in an unmarked police cruiser, attempted to stop a vehicle on Rte. 128, according to Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary. The vehicle didn't initially stop, and as such the Norwood detective requested the assistance of Wellesley Police. It wasn't immediately clear, however, what prompted the motor vehicle stop, though Cleary said she believed there were no speed factors involved. Police chased a vehicle along Rte. 128 Tuesday morning.
Wellesley Police have detained a driver whom they chased on Rte. 128 Tuesday morning, according to unconfirmed reports. Scanner reports indicate that police were in pursuit of a vehicle that was traveling northbound on Rte. 128 shortly after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle was allegedly wanted for drug charges, and a large amount of drugs were allegedly on board. Police were able to stop the vehicle shortly thereafter just before the Mass Pike exit on Rte. 128, according to scanner reports, and the suspect is allegedly in custody.
