A Newton man found asleep in his running car in front of Comellas was arrested and charged with his second operating under the influence offense last week. Nikolai Gorbunov, 29, of 164 Adams St., Newton was spotted by a Wellesley Police officer sleeping in the front seat of his car on Washington Street Oct. 13. The officer detected an odor of alcohol and determined he had been drinking. After admitting to consuming alcohol, the officer placed Gorbunov under arrest.

Police officers arrested a driver on an OUI charge after they pulled him over for swerving all over Washington Street last week. Robert M. Stoddard, 75, of 18 Lanark Road, Wellesley, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol among other charges after a Wellesley Police officer observed him drive over the double yellow line and back over the right side fog line on Washington Street Oct. 3.

A Lexington woman was charged last week for driving under the influence of alcohol after police received reports of a driver “swerving all over the road,” according to a police official citing a witness statement. Caroline B. Osteen, 40, of 7223 Lexington Ridge, Lexington was arrested June 8 when officers located her in her vehicle parked on the side of Route 9, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. A Wellesley Police officer arrived to the scene where Osteen was in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition and engine running, Morse said. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and asked Osteen to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed.

Disabled Vehicle Leads to Warrant-Related Arrest Edward J. Zani Jr., 41, of Wakefield was arrested last week after an officer discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest. Wellesley Police Officer Nate Derby, on routine patrol March 14, drove by what he believed to be a disabled vehicle on Cedar Street, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. Derby noticed the vehicle attempt to drive away, but it appeared it was having engine trouble, Morse said. Derby stopped and spoke to the operator, Zani, and ran his license plate. Derby learned there was a warrant out for Zani’s arrest from Lynn District Court for shoplifting over $100. Zani was arrested. Sudbury Man Recognized by Detective Arrested for Intent to Distribute Marijuana Benjamin Sia, 19, of Sudbury was arrested last week after police found three bags of marijuana and other paraphernalia in his car during a traffic stop. Wellesley Police detective Christopher Connelly pulled Sia over Feb. 29 on Weston Road. Connelly, while talking with Sia, observed three cellophane baggies. The baggies contained a total of 37 grams of marijuana, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. Alleged Shoplifter Attempts to Steal Fish from Whole Foods A Whole Foods shopper alleged attempted to get away without paying for a package of fish last week. Wellesley Police arrested Donna C. Paglia, 45, of Wellesley Jan. 17 for shoplifting by concealing a package of fish underneath her purse and then leaving the store. According to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse, a loss prevention specialist told an officer that Paglia hid the package under her purse in the front part of her shopping cart as she paid for other items. She then left the store and was stopped by the loss prevention specialist. The package was worth $33.74, according to Morse. Driver Crashes Into Seaver Street Telephone Pole A Wellesley man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing his car head on into a telephone pole last week. Craig W. Sanger, 57, was observed standing outside his vehicle after a Jan. 4 crash on Seaver Street, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. He was uninjured, Morse said. Newton Caretaker Arrested for Forging Checks to Herself From Elderly Woman in Her Care Wellesley Police last week arrested a caretaker who was allegedly forging checks to herself in the name of a woman in her care. Police arrested Honorine Lue, 31, of Newton Sept. 26 after they found she had written nearly $1,000 worth of checks to herself in the name of the elderly woman she was caring for, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse.
