Three-Storm Punch in Store for Area Next Week?

The Mass. Pike and I-495 may see plowable snow on Monday.

This much seems certain: we will see snow next week. But how much and how often is still the big question. According to WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner, the weather pattern for the area will start to become active not just for next week, but for possibly the next three weeks. "The pattern becomes active and a number of storms will take a swipe at us for the next 2-3 weeks," according to his blog on WHDH. "They won't all be snow or rain, likely a mix of both and the first one on the docket looks to be just that." In regards to next week, Reiner says light snow is expected Sunday and may change over to sprinkles Sunday night. Stormy Pattern, and Possibly Snow, Predicted for Next Week

Strong coastal storm may affect region between Monday and Wednesday.

For those of you dreaming of a white Christmas, this forecast is what you've been waiting for. According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance for accumulating snow next week as a coastal storm develops between Monday and Wednesday. An active weather pattern is expected to begin Sunday and continue through the middle of next week. There's a possibility of snow and/or ice, with significant amounts if temperatures remain cold enough. The NWS is currently predicting a 50 percent chance of rain and snow Monday night and Tuesday. Timing of the storm is still uncertain, as is the type of precipitation and any potential hazards.
