New Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital to Aid Sexual Assault Victims

The pilot program is being funded through federal grant money.

  Federal funding to the tune of $3.3 million will go to create a health center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital to better help victims of sexual assault, both locally and nationally. The Massachusetts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Telenursing Center, which will be located at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, will provide 24-hour services to victims of sexual assault, according to an Associated Press report on the Boston Herald website.  The telenursing center will also offer consultation services to doctors and nurses around the country who don't routinely treat victims of sexual assault, the report says.  The grant money, from the U.S. Department of Justice, will help pay for equipment and clinical staffing, plus education and technical assistance…

Newton-Wellesley Hospital Restricting Visitors Due to Flu

The hospital is hoping to keep visitors at a minimum during the flu outbreak.

With a flu epidemic affecting much of the country, local hospitals are hoping to protect their patients by keeping visits to a minimum.  Newton-Wellesley Hospital has put in place a number of visitor restrictions to help limit the spread of the flu virus, according to the hospital's website.
