Police Arrests Feb. 14-20

A Waltham man allegedly driving drunk along Route 9 at 2 a.m. was unlicensed.

Driver with revoked license gave police a false name On Feb. 14, at 3 p.m., Derek Buchino, 30, of Marlborough was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle on a revoked license and providing a false name to a police officer. An officer on patrol in the area of Martin Road observed a car without a front license plate and stopped it, according to a police report. The driver, Buchino, was not the registered owner of the vehicle but gave the owner’s name as his own, according to the report. The officer learned Buchino had given a false name when Buchino’s face did not match the photo of the owner in the Registry of Motor Vehicles' database. Buchino was released on $250 bail. Police Arrests Jan. 17-23

A driver swerving along Route 9 in the wee hours of Saturday morning was wanted for possession with intent to distribute Class A drugs in a school zone.

Framingham men blow stop sign; neither has valid license On Jan. 17, at 9:14 a.m., Brunno Marcena Batista, 28, of Framingham was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license. A roommate, Gilberto Silvestre Batista Jr., 26, also was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. An officer on patrol in the area of Hundreds Road observed two consecutive cars fail to stop at a stop sign and pulled over both, according to a police report. Brunno Batista was the driver of one, Gilberto Batista was at the wheel of the other. A query of both men’s license statuses revealed the former’s to be suspended and the latter’s non-existent. Police Arrests Jan. 10-16

After seeing a roach on the floor of a teen's car, police searched the trunk and found a jar containing a dozen bags of marijuana.

Teens charged with intent to distribute marijuana On Jan. 11, at 1:25 p.m., Michael Diroma, 18, of Newton was arrested on a warrant for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute. An accomplice, Latonya Campbell, 18, of Waltham also was arrested and charged with the same. An officer on patrol in the area of Walnut Street observed a car, driven by Diroma, swerving over the yellow line of the road and stopped it, according to a police report. A routine check of Diroma’s license and registration revealed the warrant from Waltham District Court. Rhode Island man arrested for driving on revoked license On Jan. 3, at 11:32 a.m., Santos M. Martinez, 30, of Pawtucket, R.I., was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle on a revoked license. An officer patrolling Route 9 observed a car, driven by Martinez, with a defective brake light and stopped it, according to a police report. A routine check of Martinez’s license and registration status showed the former had been revoked. Martinez was transported to Dedham District Court after his arrest. A local teen is arrested on back to back days, and a routine traffic stop leads to a drug arrest.

Teen arrested for assault, then property damage the next day On Nov. 2, at 3:30 p.m., Daniel Robert Tusler, 17, of 778 Worcester St. was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery. He had engaged in a verbal argument with what police called a male party known to him, and punched the man in the face, according to a police report. He was released on bail. The next day, at 4:06 p.m., Tusler was arrested again and charged with malicious or wanton damage or defacement of property. He had argued with the same man and broken a window with a ratchet, according to a police report. Tusler was held overnight and transported to Dedham District Court Nov. 4. Police Arrests Oct. 5-11

A driver, stopped for over-tinting his car's windows, was carrying oxycodeine and had a revoked registration.

Car with overly-tinted windows contained narcotics On Oct. 4, at 10:09 a.m., Jaensmine Mande, 23, of 43 Curtis Road, Milton, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class B substance and operating a motor vehicle on a revoked registration. He also received a civil citation for a window tinting violation, which carries a $250 fine.  An officer patrolling Route 9 West observed a black Honda with windows that appeared to be too darkly tinted. State law requires car windows to allow at least 35 percent of light to pass through them. The officer stopped the car, driven by Mande, and while checking Mande's license and registration status learned the latter had been revoked. Driver of stickerless car has suspended license On Aug. 18, at 5:30 p.m., Leonardo Santiago, 29, of 24 Belleville Road, Apt. 2, New Bedford, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker. An officer on patrol saw a car traveling east on Rte. 9 without a sticker and pulled it over. The driver, Santiago, produced a valid Florida license, but his license to operate in Massachusetts had been suspended. Santiago was arrested and bailed. Random License Plate Query Reveals Trio of Violations On Aug. 3, at 11 a.m., Edwin Velazquez, 48, of 24 Mallard Avenue, apartment 1, Dorchester, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving a vehicle whose registration had been suspended, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving an unregistered vehicle. An officer patrolling Worcester Street performed a random query of a vehicle driven by Velazquez, which revealed the outstanding warrant from Quincy. Velazquez was transported to Dedham District Court. Wrentham man caught with cocaine, oxycodone, marijuana On July 27, at 10:20 a.m., Timothy Bullock of 64 Winter St., Wrentham, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of class B substances, possession with intent to distribute a class D substance, and driving with an expired inspection sticker. Around 10 a.m., an officer patrolling Washington Street observed a car traveling eastbound with an inspection sticker that had expired in May. The officer stopped the vehicle and asked the driver, Bullock, to put out the cigarette he was smoking. When Bullock pulled out the car's ash tray, the officer noticed several marijuana butts and could smell marijuana. The officer asked Bullock to step out of the vehicle, and a pat frisk …

Local cops help Winthrop police nab alleged batterer; Boy, 15, assaults officer.

Wellesley police help Winthrop cops arrest alleged batterer On July 16, at 1:20 p.m., local police arrested Rodrigo Santos, 34, of Winthrop for domestic assault and battery. Earlier in the day, Wellesley police received a call from Winthrop police, who said they had probable cause to arrest Santos for domestic assault and battery. They believed Santos would be working as a painter on Marvin Road in Wellesley and requested Wellesley police make the arrest. Local police did apprehend Santos on Marvin Road and later turned him over to Winthrop police.
