The safest town in America, and a meeting with a congressman make up the latest update from the Wellesley Police Department. The latest WPD Web News Update (see videos, right) focuses on two major topics: the town being ranked 15th safest in the country, and Chief Terrence Cunningham meeting with Congressman Joseph Kennedy III. The first minute of the video focuses on a recent study on Neighborhood Scout indicates that, thus far in 2013, Wellesley ranked 15 out of the top 100 safest communities nationwide. The town has moved up from from 19th place in 2012. The odds of falling victim to a crime in Wellesley are in 1 in 7271, compared to the Massachusetts-wide odds of 1 in 233. Kennedy's district offices are located in Newton and Attleboro.
Fourth District Congressman Joe Kennedy III announced today he will be hosting open houses this coming weekend at his district offices in Newton and Attleboro. During the open houses, the public will have a chance to meet Kennedy and his district staff, according to a press release issued by Kennedy's office. The open houses will be held this Saturday, Jan. 12. Kennedy married his Harvard Law School classmate Lauren Birchfield.
Just a month after he clinched the Fourth Congressional District seat, Joseph Kennedy III celebrated another important milestone on Saturday: his wedding. Kennedy, 32, wed fellow Harvard Law School classmate Lauren Anne Birchfield at the Community Church in Corona del Mar, Calif., according to a My Fox Boston report earlier today. The ceremony was officiated by Birchfield's father, the Rev. Jim Birchfield, My Fox Boston reported. After months of campaigning across a large and newly redrawn district, the pool of Fourth Congressional District candidates has officially been whittled down from six to two. Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat will be the two names on the November ballot for the Fourth Congressional District, according to reports from the Associated Press.
