Dunkin' Donuts to Add More Jobs, Locations

CNN reports says Dunkin' Donuts will double stores in 25 years.

Here's some good news for coffee and Munchkin lovers in the area. Dunkin Donuts announced today that it will be doubling its locations in the United States over the next 20 years, according to a CNN report. In addition to more coffee, Dunkin' Donuts will be adding more jobs. The CNN reports says that each new store adds an average of 20-25 full and part-time new employees. The Boston Herald, meanwhile, is reporting that Dunkin’ Donuts’ parent company, Dunkin’ Brands Group, Inc., signed a new deal to keep “franchisees in new markets with the same product costs as franchisees in established Dunkin’ Donuts markets.” The deal, according to the Herald, will eliminate across the board product costs among franchise owners. License Hearing for Justine’s Restaurant Continued to Later Date

Parking and safety at forefront of selectmen’s concerns.

Though a bid to move forward in opening Justine’s restaurant came before the Board of Selectmen again last night, the proprietors will have some more work to do before being granted the necessary license. Attorney Larry Shind, representing prospective owner Maryellen Behrend and manager Tony Melchionda, applied for a common victualler’s license for the restaurant to be located at 978 Worcester St. – a high traffic area of Route 9 East on the Natick border. But the selectmen had questions about parking difficulty and safety in the area. Shind presented a vision of the restaurant that had 15 fewer seats, - down from 178 to 163 – and a reduction in need for on-site parking spaces due to the procurement of 21 employee-only spaces at adjacent …

Dunkin' Donuts Special Permit Renewed at ZBA Hearing

The annual special permit renewal passes Zoning Board of Appeals hearing.

Presenting a request to renew their special permit at the 951 Worcester street Dunkin' Donuts, Franchisee Bill Donovan came before the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). With him, Jeffrey Dirk, Vice President of Vanasse and Associates, Donovan's traffic consultant.  This is a renewal of an existing special permit which allows the restaurant to operate the drive-through window. In 2008, the Zoning Board suggested a number of changes to mitigate the increased traffic such a facility would create. "We did the traffic study to see what effects the changes had," Dirk explained, going over the traffic numbers included in the application.  One of the Board's concerns was the amount of parking on the site. There are only 11 parking spaces on the site…
