N.J. Man Arrested After Allegedly Sleeping in Vehicle, Charged with 3rd OUI

A man trying to catch some shut-eye in his car on Washington Street wound up in cuffs after he allegedly attempted to drive drunkenly from police at the scene. Joseph Lando, 42, of 22 Branch Ave., Oceanport, N.J., was arrested Aug. 17 and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol – third offense after police received a phone call reporting a man sleeping in his vehicle near Blue Ginger restaurant. When police arrived, Lando’s vehicle was parked and running with the driver’s side door open. Wellesley Police officer Jenny Rowe saw Lando, who had been hanging out of the vehicle, close the door and put the car in reverse, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Wickland. Driver with Missing Tire Arrested for DUI

Driver With No License Arrested after Officer Saw Loose License Plate A loose license plate led to the arrest of a driver last week on Route 9. Tiago Silva, 28, of 502 Hollis St. Apt. #2, Framingham was traveling east on Route 9 April 23 when Wellesley Police officer Nate Derby, on patrol in the area, noticed Silva’s front license plate was hanging on by one screw, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. Derby pulled Silva over. When asked, Silva told Derby he did not have a license and instead handed him a Brazillian passport. A check of his name and date of birth revealed that he did not have a driver’s license. Silva was placed under arrest and charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license and driving with an …

Driver Arrested for 2nd DUI, Property Damage

Danny Blyde, 26, of 4 Hampton Road, Stoneham was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol last week following a crash which caused severe damage to his vehicle and public property. During the early morning hours of April 20, Wellesley Police received multiple phone calls reporting an accident on Route 9 near Oakland Street, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. Callers also reported they saw the driver flee the scene. Officer Timothy Barros went to the scene and found a parked car with a broken back window, smashed windshield and a large dent in the back, according to Morse. Man Arrested on Warrant while Driving Someone Else’s Vehicle; Vehicle’s Owner Arrested on Warrant Too A Milton man with a warrant out for his arrest was caught last week driving a vehicle for which the rightful owner had no insurance. Officer Conor Ashe, on patrol near Abbott Road Sept. 22, saw Galen R. Fischer, 52, driving a black station wagon with an expired registration, according to a query. The officer pulled Fischer over and found out there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest for “miscellaneous ordinances and bylaw violations,” according to Lt. Natick Man ‘Never Attempted to Stop’ Before Rear-ending Vehicle, Booked for OUI A Natick man was arrested last week for driving while intoxicated after an officer heard a crash near Routes 9 and 128. Darryl J. Williams, 48, was arrested Sept. 16 after Wellesley Police officer Ty Mao heard a crash near the Sun Life Financial building gateway on Route 9. Williams had rear-ended a vehicle stopped at a red light, according to Lt. Marie Cleary. Williams informed officers that he wasn’t paying attention before he struck the vehicle. “It did not appear that he had attempted to stop or break prior to the crash,” Cleary said. “There was extensive front end damage to Williams’ vehicle.” Williams’ vehicle’s airbags deployed and he was transported to …

Police Log: Man Arrested with Fireworks

19 Year Old Arrested with Alcohol, Fireworks Police arrested a Wellesley 19 year old who was in possession of fireworks and alcohol last week. Wellesley Police officer Ty Mao was dispatched to Colburn Road Aug. 8 on reports of youths lighting fireworks in the area. He came across a vehicle with no headlights on operated by Westley Spiro. Mao stopped the vehicle and questioned Spiro. The officer detected an odor of alcohol on him and saw a case of beer in the vehicle, according to Wellesley Police records clerk Sue Morse. Spiro was arrested. Police found fireworks after a routine search of the vehicle. Spiro was charged with possession of alcohol while under 21, transporting alcohol while under 21, unlawful possession of fireworks and …

Police Arrests April 4-10

Wellesley cops made three drunk driving arrests and found steroids in the glove box of a car with a missing license plate and an expired inspection sticker.

Warrant Apprehension Team arrests Newton woman wanted for larceny On April 6, at 2:52 p.m., Ariana Mataev, 23, of Newton was arrested on a warrant for larceny over $250. The Wellesley Police Department Warrant Apprehension Team executed the warrant, issued by Dedham District Court, at Mataev’s home. She was bailed on personal recognizance. Westwood woman arrested on warrant for two counts of larceny On April 6, at 6:09 p.m., Paige M. DiGiacomo, 22, of Westwood was arrested on a warrant for larceny over $250 and larceny under $250. The WPD Warrant Apprehension Team executed the warrant, issued by Dedham District Court, at DiGiacomo’s home. She was bailed on personal recognizance. Police Arrests March 28-April 3

A Quincy man weaving along Route 9 in the wee hours of Thursday morning already had been arrested three times for drunk driving.

Quincy man arrested for fourth drunk driving offense On March 31, at 1:23 a.m., Timothy J. McCluskey, 50, of Quincy was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, fourth offense. A Wellesley Police officer patrolling Worcester Street observed a car, driven by McCluskey, swerving from lane to lane and stopped it, according to a police report. The officer noted McCluskey’s breath smelled of alcohol and that he leaned against the vehicle to steady himself, when asked to step out of the car. McCluskey failed three field sobriety tests. McCluskey did not meet his $2,500 bail and was transported to Dedham District Court after the arrest. Wakefield woman was the target of a warrant for OUI On March 31, at 2:33 p.m., …

Local cops arrested an alleged drunk driver speeding along Washington Street during the wee hours of Saturday morning two weeks ago.

Natick woman arrested for writing bad checks to court On Feb. 28, at 7:10 p.m., Joan Marie Berdan, 53, of Waltham was arrested on a warrant for larceny over $250. An officer patrolling Route 9 performed a random query of the vehicle in front of him and learned the registered owner of the car, Berdan, was the target of a warrant from Natick District Court, according to a police report. Berdan, who was at the wheel, was wanted for writing bad checks to that court. The officer stopped the car and arrested Berdan, who was released on $600 bail. Man who made illegal right turn onto Oakland Street was wanted for larceny On March 1, at 11:52 a.m., Jaleel Heath, 38, of Boston was arrested on a warrant for larceny and uttering a false check. Police Arrests Feb. 14-20

A Waltham man allegedly driving drunk along Route 9 at 2 a.m. was unlicensed.

Driver with revoked license gave police a false name On Feb. 14, at 3 p.m., Derek Buchino, 30, of Marlborough was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle on a revoked license and providing a false name to a police officer. An officer on patrol in the area of Martin Road observed a car without a front license plate and stopped it, according to a police report. The driver, Buchino, was not the registered owner of the vehicle but gave the owner’s name as his own, according to the report. The officer learned Buchino had given a false name when Buchino’s face did not match the photo of the owner in the Registry of Motor Vehicles' database. Buchino was released on $250 bail.
