Police Log: Officers Chase Driver of Stolen Vehicle; Arrest Man after Failing four Sobriety Tests

Police Chase Driver of Stolen Car on Foot Wellesley Police chased the driver of a stolen car who, after being pulled over for missing a second license plate, got out and ran. Wellesley Police officers attempted to pull over Timothy B. Allen, 44, of Roxbury, Saturday at around 2 p.m. on Route 9 westbound for lack of a second license plate. When the officers’ vehicle entered traffic to pursue, they noticed that Allen changed lanes three times, cutting off other vehicles with each change, according to Lt. Marie Cleary of the Wellesley Police. The officers then observed Allen turn off of Route 9 and onto Audubon Road, where he stopped the vehicle and took off on foot, according to Cleary. One motorist was arrested and found to be in possession of heroin and other drugs.

Driver charged with possession of heroin A Framingham man was arrested last week and charged with operating under the influence and possession of heroin. Moises Rivera, 32, of Framingham, was stopped just before 9:30 p.m. April 25 while traveling on Route 9 last week. Wellesley Police officer Matt Farwell, on patrol in the area, ran a random check of Rivera's license plate and found his license had been revoked. While speaking with a passenger, a Wellesley Police officer noticed used hypodermic needles and several knotted plastic bags in the vehicle, according to Sue Morse, Wellesley Police Department records clerk. The passenger told officers that Rivera, who was arrested, had done heroin before driving, according to Morse. Morse said …

Police Arrests. Feb. 21-27

The driver of a car with an expired sticker went uncited, but his passenger was arrested on a warrant for larceny and later found to have cocaine on her person.

Passenger of car with expired sticker was target of warrant, had cocaine in her possession On Feb. 21, at 3:10 a.m., Jeanne T. Sherman, 50, of Framingham was arrested on a warrant for larceny under $250. She was also charged with possession of a Class B substance, subsequent offense. An officer patrolling Route 9 performed a random query of the license plate of the car in front of him, according to a police report, and discovered the vehicle’s inspection sticker had expired. After stopping the car, the officer noticed the passenger, Sherman, was not wearing her seatbelt and asked to see her license. Sherman was the target of a warrant from Hingham District Court. Police Arrests Jan. 17-23

A driver swerving along Route 9 in the wee hours of Saturday morning was wanted for possession with intent to distribute Class A drugs in a school zone.

Framingham men blow stop sign; neither has valid license On Jan. 17, at 9:14 a.m., Brunno Marcena Batista, 28, of Framingham was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license. A roommate, Gilberto Silvestre Batista Jr., 26, also was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. An officer on patrol in the area of Hundreds Road observed two consecutive cars fail to stop at a stop sign and pulled over both, according to a police report. Brunno Batista was the driver of one, Gilberto Batista was at the wheel of the other. A query of both men’s license statuses revealed the former’s to be suspended and the latter’s non-existent. The WPD helps New Hampshire authorities nab a fugitive from justice and arrests a Watertown woman for OUI.

WPD apprehends fugitive wanted by New Hampshire authorities On Oct. 21, at 10:30 a.m., Arthur Jacobs, 50, of 1 Blackstone Road, Quincy, was arrested as a fugitive from justice. The Wellesley Police Department's warrant apprehension team had been informed by New Hampshire authorities that Jacobs was the target of a warrant in that state. Police arrested Jacobs at Roche Bros. on Linden Street, where he worked, and transported him to Dedham District Court. Jacobs was subsequently extradited to New Hampshire. Watertown woman arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol, drugs On Oct. 22, at 9:50 p.m., Christina E. Police Arrests Oct. 5-11

A driver, stopped for over-tinting his car's windows, was carrying oxycodeine and had a revoked registration.

Car with overly-tinted windows contained narcotics On Oct. 4, at 10:09 a.m., Jaensmine Mande, 23, of 43 Curtis Road, Milton, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class B substance and operating a motor vehicle on a revoked registration. He also received a civil citation for a window tinting violation, which carries a $250 fine.  An officer patrolling Route 9 West observed a black Honda with windows that appeared to be too darkly tinted. State law requires car windows to allow at least 35 percent of light to pass through them. The officer stopped the car, driven by Mande, and while checking Mande's license and registration status learned the latter had been revoked. Police Department Hosting Drug Takeback Day Saturday

National Event is an opportunity to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs.

Wellesley residents with unused or expired prescription drugs can dispose of them safely and free-of-charge Saturday when the local police department hosts a prescription drug takeback from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its headquarters, 485 Washington St. The WPD is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Wellesley Health Department as part of a national event. Police departments and pharmacies across the country will hold takeback events on Saturday. "It's an opportunity for people to get rid of these drugs the right way," WPD spokeswoman Lt. Marie Cleary said. "If you've had a surgery and been prescribed something and now don't know what to do with [the medication], you can just drop it off at the station." While unused …
