Weston Road Closed Following 'Serious' Crash

Reports indicate a cyclist was allegedly struck by a moving vehicle.

Update 3:35 p.m.: New England Cable News is reporting that police confirm it was a fatal hit & run in Wellesley between car and bicyclist. NECN quotes police as saying the  bicyclist was a Wellesley resident in his 40s. Original story: Weston Road has been closed between Wellesley Square and Howe Street due to a "serious" motor vehicle accident, according to police. Police are at the scene, where bicycle debris is clearly visible. According to Twitter reports, the incident may have been fatal, though police have yet to confirm. Considerable Traffic Delays after Multi-Car Accident on Rte. 9

Wellesley Police issued a traffic alert at 11:15 a.m.

The Wellesley Police Department is warning drivers to stay away from Route 9 east and Burke Lane due to traffic issues resulting from a recent multi-vehicle accident, according to an 11:15 a.m. alert. Here is the text of the alert in its entirety: The Wellesley Police and Fire Departments have just cleared from an multi-car Motor Vehicle Accident on Worcester St (Rt. 9 east) at Burke Lane.  As a result, there is considerable residual traffic delays in the area. Wellesley Patch will provide updates as they become available.
