Wellesley's Hip-Hop High Schooler Takes Town Hall by Storm

Cam Meekins performed last night in the Wellesley Recreation Department's Summer Concert Series.

With a large audience of all ages there to enjoy his music, Wellesley musician Cam Meekins showcased some of his older songs as well as new tracks last night in front of Town Hall. As a Wellesley kid, he was able to connect with the audience in a way that was completely unique, mostly because his fans are also his peers at Wellesley High School. His music is not what you'd expect from a kid who grew up in this Western suburb, but he has the tricks of the rap game down. Meekins is impressive, not only because he has such a clear style, but because he also writes all his own lyrics and is clearly very comfortable entertaining an audience. 1.    Yesterday, Wellesley Patch predicted nice weather, despite a forecast that predicted showers. Boy, were we wrong! It rained pretty much all day and continued into the night. Sorry, our days in meteorology are over. 2.    Rain will continue today. The National Weather Service has even issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area as of 4:07 last night. There will be heavy rainfall today and possibly thunderstorms. 3.    The rain and wind of yesterday knocked down a big tree on Kingsbury Street near Linden Street. Kingsbury Street was closed for a while as crews helped remove the tree. 4.    Wellesley High School rapper Cam Meekins will perform tonight in front of Wellesley Town Hall.
