Watertown Police Get Some Love from the Boston Bruins, the Red Sox and ...

... from a local embroidering business who made a special rush order.

Boston Bruins players wanted to honor the heroes of the capturing of the Boston Marathon Bombing suspect by donning baseball hats emblazoned with the Watertown Police Department. Only problem: the WPD didn't have baseball hats.  No problemnow: all you need is a generous and speedy embroiderer.  The call came in Saturday morning and the hats needed to be ready for the game that started at 12:30 p.m. "We called Three Twins Productions," said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. "They were able to make the hats within an hour." Vinny, Mike and Tom Gilarde, owners of the business on Calvin Road in Watertown, whipped up the hats and donated them. "It's another example of the community coming together," Lawn said.  The Bruins players wore hats …

Are You Excited For The NHL to Come Back?

More recently, the idled team has been something of an afterthought in a city that also has the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. Yes, many of us love the Bruins. We take pride in their Original Six status and the heroes of seasons past. But the NHL…

The Stanley Cup Makes A Surprise Visit

Construction workers kissed it, boys touched it, more than one person stood in awe and everyone wanted a photo as the legendary hardware visited The Cottage.

Builder Tony Cogliano was having a sandwich at the Linden Store when someone got a phone call, looked up and yelled to no one in particular, “the Stanley Cup’s at The Cottage.” “I ran down here and saw those two big, black Escalades parked here and I knew,” he said. School Committee Member Wendy Paul just happened to be having a quiet lunch at The Cottage with her brother visiting from New Hampshire when she saw the coveted hardware. Michael Eld and Tom Sardina got a text from their boss at the Wellesley Water and Sewer Department. “He was holding the cup,” Eld said. The two former Wellesley High School hockey players knew immediately where they would spend their lunch hour. And so it was that for an hour at The Cottage restaurant on …

Wellesley Does Lunch with the Stanley Cup

Lord Stanley’s Cup made the rounds at The Cottage this afternoon.

The Boston Bruins’ championship parade continued this afternoon in Wellesley. Kim Jacobs, wife of team executive Vice President Charlie Jacobs, brought the Stanley Cup to The Cottage, her favorite restaurant, she said. Kim Jacobs said she’s still in awe of hockey’s top prize, even after four months. “It’s pretty amazing,” she said. “It got to the house this morning it pulled up, they pulled it out of the car and it still takes my breath away.”

Timmy, I know you're entitled to your opinion, but please give it somewhere else. It's exciting that the Stanley Cup was in Wellesley and you really don't need to turn it into a dig at the restauraunt. By the way, the Cottage is one of my favorite restauraunts in town   more ›
