Police Increase Patrols on Edmunds Road
Police say the patrols are just a precaution.
Police have increased patrols in the Edmunds Road area, but an official assures it’s only a precautionary measure. “This was done to reassure residents and help families feel secure, not because we have any reason to believe that the neighborhood is unsafe,” Lt. Marie Cleary of the Wellesley Police Department wrote in an e-mail. Detectives are continuing to investigate a sexual assault claim which stirred Wellesley Monday. Local and state police searched the Edmunds Road area on foot and via helicopters for a suspect said to be a black male with “very little hair, black clothes and blue gloves.” Police said the suspect was armed at the time.
