The Wellesley Police Department Runners Club annual Officer Savage 5K was held last weekend.
The Wellesley Police Department Runners Club held its annual Officer Savage 5K Road Race and Fun Run on Sunday, May 5. The race started and finished at Babson College, and a kids 'fun run' was held for children 10 and under. Seth McClennen, 41, of Wellesley was the top overall male finisher, with a time of 17:07. For the women, Molly Karp, 31, of Natick, was the top finisher, completing the course in 21:05. To see the complete list of finishers, and rankings by age, visit this Wellesley police page.

Wellesley College students came out to support Boston Marathon's runners with signs and screams.
Yesterday, through the @Wellesley and @WellesleyNews's social media, the college announced they would hold a vigil today, April 17, at 12:30 p.m. Just a few hours earlier, the same social media was talking about one of the College's marathon traditions: The Scream Tunnel. Wellesley College has been doing this for years. The Scream Tunnel is an ongoing tradition which, according to our Wellesley College Patch Blog may be as old as the marathon itself. It is a quarter-mile stretch, where students come out to support runners with signs and screams. Patch Blogger Krista Perry, wrote about her Marathon experience yesterday. Following the Boston Marathon explosion yesterday, please let us know if you have heard from Wellesley's runners.
Dozens of people were injured by two explosions near the Boston Marathon finish line yesterday. Needless to say, there are a lot of worried people out there. We want to hear from you that people are alright. If nothing else, tell your family that you're safe with Red Cross site, or use the Google People Finder. However, please let us know when you hear from people: leave a comment below or on our post yesterday, we would like to hear that you, your family, and your friends are all okay. Tom and Kristen Donahue, who we profiled last week, were both running and told Patch they were both home and safe, and that their thoughts were with the families affected by the explosion. As Boston's Marathoners run through Wellesley and Newton, we'd like to see your photos of the runners in town.
The 117th Boston Marathon will bring thousands of runners from Hopkinton to Boston, via Wellesley on Monday, April 15, 2013. The route will pass through Wellesley from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wellesley College tells us they will do the Scream Tunnel again this year, although runners will be passing through town for much of the day. As the course winds through town, if you are going out to watch, bring your phone or your camera with you. Snap a couple of photos and upload them here. Road race in memory of Hanna Randolph coming to Elm Bank on Mother's Day. Patch caught up with the new race manager for more.
The Wellesley 1 Miler Race in memory of Hannah Randolph is back, and it's under new management. New race director Dave Hannon told Patch that they took the event over, and have started from scratch. Like last year, the race begins on Mother’s Day morning, and runners will still gather in honor of a Wellesley High School freshman who lost her life in a skiing accident last year. However, this year's Wellesley 1 Miler for Hannah Randolph will start off at a new location: Elm Bank. The location is more significant to the Randolph family, as it is where Hannah learned to ride her bike, and where she played soccer. Last year, the race ran through downtown Wellesley.
