Wellesley Gets Into the Holiday Spirit This Weekend

WEEKEND WEATHER

Saturday: Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of snow showers. It will be cooler with highs in the upper 30s. Saturday night will be mostly clear with lows in the mid 20s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with temperature highs in the upper 30s. Sunday night there is a 60 percent chance of snow. Lows will be in the upper 20s.

SATURDAY EVENTS

9 a.m.: There will be a holiday shopping event at Linden Square. Activities include breakfast with Santa at The Cottage, visits with costume characters Frosty and Rudolph, caroling, holiday treats and visit with Santa Claus himself all hosted in the Linden Square Courtyard. 9 a.m.: Saint John School, 9 Ledyard St., Wellesley will hold the annual Trees and Trimmings holiday market. It will be filled with everything you need for Christmas: freshly cut trees, custom decorated wreaths, boxwoods and roping, homemade baked goods, kids’ crafts and a toy raffle.

10 a.m.: The Wellesley Women Artisans will present an Art Walk partner event to the Wellesley Square Holiday Stroll. Come see locally created art at The London Harness Company, Candy Bar, Lyn Evans Potpourri Designs, Wellesley Books, Kidville, Benoit Mizner Simon, Winston Flowers, Wasik's Cheese Shop, Isabel Harvey, Moxie, The Wellesley Theater Project, J. P. Licks and the former Paper Source location on Church Street. Twenty percent of all arts sales goes directly to the Wellesley Education Foundation to support educator grants that promote and enhance the Visual Arts curriculum in Wellesley Public Schools.

7 p.m.: The Board of Selectmen will meet at Wellesley Police Department.

SUNDAY EVENTS

1 to 3 p.m.: The Friends of the Wellesley Free Libraries' will hold a Holiday Book Sale in the Wakelin lobby.

2 to 4 p.m.: A Sunday Knitting Grouop will meet in the Arnold Room of Wellesley Free Library.

2 to 3:30 p.m.: Boston Impromptu will perform a concert featuring holiday music from the American Songbook. This event will take place in the Wakelin Room of Wellesley Free Library.

2:30 p.m.: Ted Powers, aka Tappin’ Ted, will entertain at Waterstone at Wellesley, 27 Washington St., Wellesley. Powers is a spry entertainer who tap dances while performing folk songs on the guitar and ukulele. This event is free and open to the public. For more information or to R.S.V.P., call 781-235-1614.

7:30 p.m.: The Choral Music Program and Office of Religious and Spiritual Life present an evening of candlelight, music, readings, and carols. A longstanding Wellesley tradition, Christmas Vespers heralds the arrival of the holiday season in the beautiful setting of Houghton Chapel at Wellesley College.
