3. Raising 'App-y' Readers program

Wellesley Free Library will hold a Raising 'App-y' Readers program 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 in the Arnold Room. Parents of pre-reading children ages 2 and older can participate in this informational session about the best early literacy apps for kids. With such a large number of apps out there, and many claiming to be “educational,” it can be hard to find quality apps to share with your child. There will be a demonstration of a variety of apps that help kids develop early literacy skills, offer tips on using technology with young children, and answer questions.

4. Evernote: Organizing web and original content

Instead of ripping articles out of magazines and scrawling notes all over them, let Evernote help you organize content. This tool allows you to save web content, add own notes and organize information into 'notebooks.' Skills required for this class include website literacy, typing, mouse and internet navigation. This workshop will take place Wednesday, Jan. 29 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Jackie’s Room. Registration is required as space is limited. Register by calling 781-235-1610, extension 1105 or in person at the reference desk.

5. Empowering Consumers in an Ever-Changing Marketplace

Just as we thought we were getting a handle on Smartphones, Facebook and Twitter, along came Sidecar, mobile banking, prepaid cards, paperless receipts, increased data gathering, new laws, new court decisions, and a dazzling array of new apps. Join Cindy Matloff and Marie Taylor, from Consumers Empowered, Inc., as they demonstrate how to take the best advantage of Sidecar, mobile banking, prepaid cards, paperless receipts, increased data gathering, new laws, new apps and more. This program is free and open to the public Thursday, Jan. 30, 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wakelin Room of Wellesley Free Library.
