5 Things You Need to Know: Deliciously Clean Cuts and Arts in the Parks

1. The National Weather Service says thunderstorms are "likely" today. A 70 percent chance of heavy rains of some kind, and highs of 83ºF are expected in town today. By nightfall, a low of 64ºF and a 60 percent chance of heavy rains. Either way, I'd grab an umbrella.

2. The Transitions Center is open again today, for folks looking for help on the job front. Drop by to access a computer, office equipment and employment tools, do research or network with others. For more information, call 781-444-3728 or e-mail info@transitionsneedham.org.

3. Head to Whole Foods Market to get Deliciously Clean and Green. Author, national speaker and founder of ChooseWiser.com, Kristi Marsh is coming to teach you how to make your own cleaning products at home. This is the beginning of her national Whole Foods tour, and she's going on at 4 p.m., and then singing books from 5 to 7 p.m.

4. Come 7 p.m., Arts in the Parks is back in Needham. They are kicking off their summer concert series with the Tom Nutile Big Band, and are playing at the Memorial Field gazebo. If it happens to be raining, however, they will head to the performance space at Eliot School.

5. Cutting down trees isn't what the Mass Horticultural Society is about, but the know that sometimes you have to do it. Which is why, at 7 p.m., they are hosting a class on that subject. Massachusetts Certified Arborist Scott McPhee from Hartney-Greymont will help them cut down "unwanted"
tree in our the Italianate Garden at Elm Bank, and talk about the process.
