The researchers also note that seniors tend to be most at risk, with a study reporting that people older than 65 are seven times more likely to have a negative reaction than younger people. They stress the importance of recognizing and avoiding dietary supplement-drug interactions that may likely occur. If patients are taking dietary supplements, researchers have found safe medications that patients can take. Acetaminophen has been strongly recommended by scientists because it is not related to any of the dietary supplement-drug interactions. Antibiotics, cephalexin, metronidazole, amoxicillin, and penicillin are noted as the best choices for patients with dietary supplements.
