Wellesley Little League in Second Place in New England Tourney

Wellesley South's next game is Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 8 p.m.

The Wellesley South Little League team is currently in second place, representing Massachusetts in the New England Region tournament currently underway in Bristol, Conn., according to Unpage.

Wellesley won two of its three games leading up to today's final pool play game. In its first game on Saturday, Aug. 4, Wellesley bested the Scarborough, Maine, team, 5-4. On Monday, Aug. 6, Wellesley suffered a loss to South Burlington, Vermont, by a score of 5-3. Then on Tuesday, Aug. 7, Wellesley beat Bedford, N.H., 9-5.

Today, Wednesday, Aug. 8, the Wellesley squad takes on Fairfield American of Connecticut at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on NESN, according to Unpage. Wellesley currently trails Fairfield American, which is in first place in the six-team field with three wins and no losses.

The top four teams after today's games will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., while the championship game will be played on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m.
