Wellesley Native Signs Deal with New England Revolution

Chris Tierney has played 6 seasons for the Revs, and will continue to play with the team moving forward.

Wellesley Native Chris Tierney has already played six seasons with the New England Revolution and today the Major League Soccer team announced that he will remain a Rev moving forward.

Tierney has already appeared in 120 games with 109 starts with the team where he is currently in his sixth season. He was drafted 13th overall in the 2008 draft.

“Chris is a very versatile player and gives us a lot of options,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a release on their website. “He is a great leader on and off the field, and has been one of our most consistent and productive players the last few seasons, so we’re very pleased he’s decided to sign a new contract to remain in New England."

Tierney, 27, went to Noble & Greenough in Dedham for high school before attending the University of Virginia.

Revolution management has not released details of the contract. However, the MLS Players Association releases salary information each year. In 2013 Tierney was set to receive a base salary of $82,000.
