Sports Roundup April 30-May 6

The boys' lacrosse team and girls' tennis squad continued their dominance and stayed unbeaten.

Baseball: The Raiders continued to falter a bit, suffering their fourth loss in six games and dropping to second place in the Herget Division. Wellesley (7-3, 4-3 Bay State Conference) edged Norwood, 6-5, on Monday before falling, 4-0, to Milton on Thursday.

Softball: Wellesley snapped a six-game losing streak, squeaking by Natick, 13-12, on Friday. The Raiders (2-8, 1-6 BSC) lost, 3-1, to Norwood on Monday and 5-1 to Milton on Thursday.

Boys’ lacrosse: The Raiders continued their mastery of the Bay State Conference, winning a pair of games by a combined 25 goals. Wellesley (11-0, 6-0 BSC) topped Weymouth, 14-4, on Tuesday and Milton, 16-1, on Friday to remain perfect.

Girls’ lacrosse: Wellesley sustained its first loss of the season, 11-9 at Lincoln-Sudbury last Saturday but rebounded with wins over Weymouth and Framingham later in the week. The Raiders (7-1-1, 5-0-1 BSC) thumped Weymouth, 15-1, on Tuesday and beat defending Division 1 state champion Framingham, 10-7, on Thursday.

Boys’ tennis: The Raiders rebounded from their first regular-season loss in three years, winning a pair of conference matches at love. Wellesley (7-1,5-1 BSC) defeated Weymouth, 5-0, on Tuesday and Milton, 5-0, on Friday but still trails unbeaten Needham in the league standings.

Girls’ tennis: Wellesley enjoyed a three-win week to maintain their unblemished record. The Raiders (7-0, 5-0 BSC) crushed Ursuline, 5-0, on Monday, Weymouth, 5-0, on Tuesday, and Milton, 4-1, on Friday.

Boys’ track and field: The Raiders fell to .500 with their third straight loss, a 95-41 defeat at Milton on Tuesday. Wellesley (3-3, 3-3 BSC) won its first three meets of the season but now stands third in the Herget Division.

Girls’ track and field: Wellesley beat Milton, 81-55, on Tuesday to keep pace with Walpole atop the Herget standings. The Raiders (5-1, 5-1 BSC) beat the Rebels last week and host Norwood Thursday at 3:45 p.m.

Boys’ volleyball: The Raiders didn’t pick up their first victory this week but did show improvement, winning a game in both of their matches. Wellesley (0-10, 0-10 BSC) lost, 3-1, to Brookline on Monday and 3-1 to Weymouth on Wednesday.
