BAWDy night expected at the Boston Arm Wrestling Dames’ 2nd fund-raiser of the year, this time for Web of Benefit, a nonprofit that provides Self-Sufficiency Grants to survivors of domestic violence. Tournament-style brackets, placing of “bets,” raffle tickets, campy costumes, “celebrity” judges and a burlesque half-time show, with dancing to follow should make for a bodacious and rollicking evening.

Where: Radio. 379 Somerville Ave., Somerville, MA
Suggested donation at door: $10
BAWD is a bunch of fired up ladies who toe the line between theatrical antics and hardcore athleticism. Eight woman-identified wrestlers compete in each brawl. They have a persona, costume, bio, theme song, and money-hungry entourage to back them up and collect “bets” from the crowd. Proceeds raised from bets go to a chosen local organization or project that benefits women and girls- this time Web of Benefit.
At each event, wrestlers compete tournament-style. The winner receives a trophy created by the beneficiary, in addition to eternal glory. Rules are determined and managed by the referees, only to be manipulated and corrupted by crowd hecklers with dolla billz.
