Wellesley Teacher's Graduation Speech Ranked One of Best in Last 50 Years

David McCullough, Jr. delivered a graduation address in 2012 that went viral.

Wellesley High School teacher David McCullough, Jr.'s 2012 graduation speech—in which he declared students "are not special"—was ranked one of the best graduation speeches over the last 50 years.

The Vox list ranked McCullough's speech No. 11.

A YouTube video of his address went viral. It earned McCullough a book deal. "You Are Not Special ... And Other Encouragements" was released last month.

He discussed his new book with Fox 25.

McCullough, a longtime Wellesley High teacher, is the son of Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough.
