Wellesley Public Schools Unveil 2013-2019 Strategic Plan

The six year strategic plan for Wellesley's public schools prioritizes high quality education for every student.

Wellesley Public Schools recently released their 2013-2019 strategic plan, after a year-long process of deliberation and discussion among members of the Wellesley community. The 20-page document details the vision that the school committee has for Wellesley’s schools, and the strategies they hope to implement to achieve their goals.

The plan focuses on four main strategies for the years to come.

The first strategy prioritizes the progress of each individual student, with actions that include closing achievement gaps and supporting different means of learning.

Strategy two is to invest in the quality of the schools’ educators, with a focus on collaboration and communication between schools and development of training programs.

A third goal is to ensure that Wellesley’s schools prepare students with the educational skills necessary to be successful throughout their lives. Initiatives for this strategy include improving the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum, developing a strong language program, and providing opportunities (such as internships) beyond the schools.
