Wellesley's Maxwell Tishman Takes Shot at the Big Leagues

The Lawrence Academy left-handed pitcher signed a letter of intent with Wake Forest, but has entered the MLB draft.

Maxwell Tishman, a hard throwing left-handed pitcher at Lawrence Academy, is in Major League Baseball's draft, which ends today.

Tishman, who is originally from Wellesley, signed a letter of intent with Wake Forest, according to Lawrence baseball coach Chris Margraf, but he – along with team standout and best friend Rhett Wiseman – are still in the running to be selected by a major league ball club.

“Major League teams pretty much know he’s going to college,” Margraf said.

Tishman lead Lawrence Academy to a 10-5 season and shared pitcher of the year co-owners in the Independent School League. He was also a finalist for league Most Valuable Player.

Tishman was mentioned in an ESPN.com blog about Wiseman, who attends BB&N and is likely to honor a commitment to Vanderbilt.
