Fiske Principal Named Interim Principal at Newton's Lincoln-Eliot

The interim principal will be coming from another interim position in Wellesley.

Newton superintendent David Fleishman announced Tuesday that he has appointed Elaine Harold as interim principal at School for the 2012-2013 school year.

Harold is currently the principal at in Wellesley and will be retiring from that position in June after 17 years of service, Fleishman's letter said. 

"Elaine is a highly competent and experienced principal who brings a track record of leadership that is characterized by collaboration, consistency and fairness," Fleishman said in a May 29 letter. "She works extremely well with all stakeholders including families, faculty, staff, and students."

Throughout this school year, Harold has been working as principal at two Wellesley elementary schools; in addition to serving as principal at Wellesley's Fiske Elementary, Harold has also been serving as the interim principal at Wellesley's .

Harold will be replacing Lincoln-Eliot Interim Principal Greg Hurray, who will be retiring at the end of this year. 

"While Elaine is obviously very busy in the next few weeks, she understands the importance of working with Greg Hurray to ensure a smooth transition and will work closely with him before his departure," Fleishman's letter said. 

Before working in Wellesley, Harold was a principal in the Beverly Public Schools as well as an elementary science specialist and a classroom teacher, the letter said. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters of Education in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in technology from Lesley University. 

Wellesley superintendent announced Anthony Colannino the new principal of Fiske beginning next year.
