Deaf Wellesley College Grad Couchsurfing Around the World

Wellesley College graduate Jenny Lu speaks with Boston.com about her upcoming around-the-world trip won with a YouTube video.

One Wellesley College alum is making her way around the world, thanks to a network of couches.

Couchsurfing.org is a website through which members can offer their couches for people to sleep on, or look for couches to sleep on themselves while traveling. It is a cheap alternative to booking a hotel or even a hostel.

Through the site, Jenny Lu, class of 2012, entered their "get inspired" video contest--and won, Boston.com's YourCampus Wellesley reports.

Lu told YourCampus, in an e-mail interview, that she connected with the Deaf communities in the countries she has visited more than the hearing communities--and that she relied heavily on International Sign Language to communicate.
