Peisch Votes in Favor of 'Three Strikes;' Creem Votes Against

The Massachusetts State Senate approved the bill which would disallow parole for three-time convicts.

State lawmakers passed the “three strikes” bill yesterday by a large margin. However, one of seven state senators to vote against the bill represents Wellesley.

Senator Cynthia Stone Creem (D) voted no on the legislation, according to sources. Creem’s senatorial district – the First Middlesex and Norfolk – spans Brookline, Newton and three districts in Wellesley.

Senator Richard Ross (R), whose senatorial district – Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex – covers Wellesley’s remaining precincts, voted yes on the bill.

State Rep. Alice Peisch (D) voted yes on the bill, which passed in the House 139 to 14 with three abstains.
