NRC/Selectmen to Form Subcommittee to Examine Senior Center Parking

Whether to make a parking lot on a Natural Resources Commission owned piece of property or not is the question.

The NRC met with the Board of Selectmen Tuesday night to discuss how to approach the land on Morton Park, a piece of land across from the old American Legion site – 496 Washington St. – the site of the future senior center.

The board is estimating the center will need an additional 30 spaces, according to NRC Director Janet Bowser.

“We did as for clarification on parking needs,” she said.

The subcommittee will bring back recommendations to both boards, she added.

“We’re in the very early stages,” Bowser said.

Both the board and committee are revisiting an issue from when building the center was last discussed two years ago.

At a recent meeting Selectwoman Terri Tsagaris said the board is interested in a to acquire the Morton plot for the town.
