Joe Kennedy Announces Re-election Bid

Kennedy's seat is up for re-election this fall.

Congressman Joe Kennedy announced he is running for re-election on Thursday.

Kennedy announced on Facebook:

“I wanted you to hear it from me first. Today, I am officially kicking off my campaign for re-election in the 4th District. And I'm hoping you'll be by my side this year, just like you were in 2012. From the start of my time in Congress, it’s been your engagement and enthusiasm that have lit my way. I am so proud and so honored to serve you down in Washington; to count you as supporters, constituents and friends. But I think we have a whole lot left to do together!

"Put simply: I can't do it without you."

Kennedy defeated Republican Sean Bielat to win the congressional seat in 2012. Kennedy replaced U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.
