Will Wellesley Get Cluster Subdivisions?

Upcoming public forum on the cluster development strategy will be at Town Hall on Jan 14, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Everything you want to know about a cluster subdivision but were too afraid to ask will be revealed at Town Hall in a couple of weeks.

A public forum on the topic of cluster subdivisions was announced recently on the Town website. Jan 14, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the great hall, the Wellesley Planning Department will take questions and share some plans for a handful of new neighborhood subdivisions.

Unlike a traditional subdivision, a cluster subdivision groups all of the homes in the neighborhood into a smaller area, in part by focusing less about minimum lot sizes. The extra land, the space without house lots, is left as open space.

The forum intends to teach attendees all about cluster subdivision, share some concepts for the plans and open space strategies, and look at some of the applications here in Wellesley.

More information and full details on the Jan 14 event are on the flyer (see PDFs).

What are your preliminary thoughts? Do you think this concept would work in Wellesley? Are there things you intend to ask at the forum? Tell us in the comments.

Why after all these years of approving McMansions on minimum allowable lots are we suddenly interested in Cluster Subdivisions?? Sounds like somebody has been schooled on U.N. Agenda 21. Look it up, Get informed.
