Wellesley Police Log: BOLO Leads to Warrant Arrest, Mixed Turn Signals

The following reports were provided by the Wellesley Police Department from Dec. 17 - 23. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction. 

Mixed Turn Signals

While driving along River Street near Washington Street at about 3 p.m. on Dec. 18, Detective Gallagher reported seeing a Toyota sedan make a right turn without using its turn signal. The vehicle made another right turn without signaling, and crossed the double-yellow line and wound up on Glen Road--which is when police tried to pull him over. The driver did not stop, but pulled into a driveway which is where Det. Gallagher spoke to him.

The driver said he was unable to provide license and registration when asked, and that he was visiting his mother's house. He would not provide a name for her, and told police that he had his license suspended. A system query confirmed this information.

40-year-old Cedric Johnson of Glen Road was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, failing to stop for police, marked lanes violation and failing to use his turn signal. He was released on personal recognizance. 

Warrant Arrest 

On Sprague Road, 5 p.m. on Dec. 20, Officer Derby pulled over the driver of a white Toyota which reportedly ran through a stop sign. When checking the plate, he found the owner of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Framingham District Court for some motor vehicle offenses. The driver, and registered owner, Geraldo Baia, 52, of Ashland was arrested and charged on that warrant. He was released on personal recognizance. 

Be On the Look Out

Dec. 22, about 8:30 p.m., Officer Porier hears a BOLO (be on the lookout) from the Natick Police Department about suspects possibly involved in a shoplifting incident at the Natick Mall. The suspects were described as a man in a black cap and a woman in a black hoodie driving a blue Mazda. When Porier saw a vehicle and passengers matching that description, he stopped them and contacted the Natick Police, who summonsed the duo to court. 

He also queried their license plate and learned that there was an outstanding warrant for vehicle charges out of Stoughton District Court. Wellesley Police arrested and charged him on that warrant and released him on personal recognizance.
