Wellesley, Other Area Towns Pursue Child Abduction Training and Certification

After completion of the training the Metro LEC will be the second certified child abduction response team in the northeast.

Next week 43 local police departments and two county sheriff departments will join forces as part of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (Metro LEC) to engage in a real-time child abduction training drill.

"We owe it to our jurisdictions, our residents and most importantly, our children, to make sure that we prepare ourselves as much as possible to give them the best chance for a positive outcome," a press release from Metro LEC said.

The drill will take place in Norwood on Wednesday morning, July 24, and will include law enforcement help from many towns in Norfolk and Plymouth County, including Wellesley.

After successful completion of the training Metro LEC will be the 19th nationally certified Child Abduction Response Team and the second in the northeast.

"Preparedness in law enforcement is critical in any type of incident, but never more so than in the case of a missing child. It is the key component to having a successful resolution to the case," Metro LEC said.
