UPDATE: Bomb Squad Safely Detonates Suspicious Device Found at Babson College, Powder Found

There are a reports of a suspicious device on the Babson College campus in Wellesley.

A suspicious device was discovered at Babson College on Friday morning.

Updated 11:55 a.m.: At approximately 7:10 a.m., the Babson Public Safety Department received the report of a suspicious device near the Babson Executive Conference Center. Wellesley Police and Fire Departments responded, and a portion of the Center was evacuated. The State Police Bomb Squad and State Fire Marshall’s Office is on scene.

The Bomb Squad implemented a controlled detonation of the device at 10:57 a.m. There was no damage as a result of the controlled detonation.  Law enforcement officials have deemed the area clear of any threat, though ialerts1.com is reporting that a white powdery substance was found.

Updated 11:37 a.m.: According to ialerts1.com, white powder has been found. A hazmat team is investigating. 

Updated 11:26 a.m.: At approximately 10:55 a.m., Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad technicians successfully and safely conducted a controlled detonation of the suspicious device discovered outside of the Babson Executive Conference Center.  

"We received the 'all clear' from the State Police and, as such, all employees, guests, and students have been allowed to return to the Conference Center," said public safety officials in a statement. "The Babson College Police, Wellesley Police, and the State Police will be conducting an investigation into the incident."

Updated 11:13 a.m.: 7 News reports via Twitter that the device has been safely detonated.

Updated 10:58 a.m.:

Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad technicians are currently on scene at the Babson College Executive Conference Center.  

"Very shortly they will be conducting a controlled detonation of the suspicious device," the Public Safety Department said in a release. "Some people on campus may hear a muffled noise but be advised that the sound is the result of a secure, controlled detonation in a safe area. As soon as everything is 'All Clear' we will send out another message stating such."
