Sheriff Urges Drivers to Sign-Up for Safety Program

Norfolk County Sheriff Michael G. Bellotti continues to urge all area residents to register with his Yellow Dot program aimed at protecting motorists in the event of a medical emergency.

Bellotti’s free-of-charge safety program provides participants with a Yellow Dot decal to affix to his or her rear windshield. The decal immediately notifies public safety first responders of pertinent medical information contained in the vehicle’s glove compartment.

Yellow Dot registration is quick and simple. Participants must have their photograph taken by a Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office employee at a registration site and will be required to fill out a medical information card. Enrollees will then be asked to return at a designated date to pick up their completed medical information packet and yellow dot decal.

“We urge drivers of all ages to sign up for this safe and effective program,” Bellotti said. “With winter underway, unsafe road conditions pose a serious threat to motorists, and this program can ensure protection for anyone involved in an automobile accident.”

Since its inception in Norfolk County in 2011, Bellotti’s Yellow Dot program has helped protect nearly 1,200 participants on the road in the 25 communities in which it operates.
