The suspect "is believed to have fled towards Overbrook Drive on foot after leaving the bank," Wellesley Police said.

A man "wearing a long dark colored pea coat style winter coat" robbed the TD Bank North branch on Route 9 in Wellesley on Sunday after passing a note, Wellesley Police say.

"No weapon was visible," Wellesley Police said in a press release Sunday night.

The suspect "is believed to have fled towards Overbrook Drive on foot after leaving the bank," police said.

Police responded to the bank, at 999 Worcester St., around 1:54 p.m., police said.

"The suspect was described by bank employees as a white male, 25-35 years of age, approximately 6’ feet in height with a slim build, wearing a long dark colored pea coat style winter coat, a light brown scarf with a Burberry type pattern, a light brown scally cap, dark rimmed eye glasses and black gloves," police said.

"The unknown male party appeared to have neck length brown hair and some facial hair."

The area was searched by several Wellesley police officers, as well as officers from the Natick Police and the State Police, according to the press release.

"Wellesley Police Detectives responded to process the scene, a representative from the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force responded, and a State Police K9 was requested to assist in a ground search of the area surrounding the bank," police said.
