Police Log: Prevented Jewelry Toss Leads to Arrest

The following reports were provided by the Wellesley Police Department. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction. 

Police received multiple calls about a domestic assault-and-battery incident on Route 9, 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 20, a vehicle involved was parked in a business parking lot. While officers were en route, they received a tip that the vehicle was now heading eastbound on Worcester Street. When they found and pulled the vehicle over, they spoke to the driver, 20-year-old Nelson Heredia of Jamaica Plain, and his female passenger.

The woman appeared visibly upset, and appeared to have swollen patches of her neck and face. She told police that she and Heredia had a verbal argument over a piece of jewelry, which she had threatened to throw out of the car window while they were driving. He tried to wrestle it back from her.

Heredia was arrested and charged with domestic assault-and-battery and driving on a suspended license. He was later released on personal recognizance.
